    to life.
Another influence is that it is situated between China (Tibet) and India. Due to this close proximity to these two countries, Nepal is greatly influenced by the Indian and Chinese cultures. Everything from religion, clothing, values, and food contain at least some mark of the Indo-Aryan and Tibetan-Mongolian influences, combining to form the culture of Nepal.
In this final project on Nepal, I will talk about the food and serve a Nepalese dish as well. In daily life, rice is a huge part of the diet. By most Nepalese it is eaten at least twice a day and is usually combined with a lentil dish or cooked vegetable, dal and tarkari, respectively. In addition to this, a Nepalese meal included achar, or pickles fruit or vegetable. In areas of Nepal where there isn’t much rice, a mush-like dish of corn or millet. This is called dhiro. Where there is much wheat, roti, or flat bread is very popular. Another big part of the Nepalese food culture is to eat with one’s hands. Some use utensils, but the hands are the common eating too

This classic, beautiful Nepalese love song is beloved by most everyone. Mr. Ash, my dialog partner was kind enough to share this with me. After hearing for the first time, I was able to get an idea of why this old song is so loved. The lyrics sing of never ending love and hope. It has a beautiful message that truly speaks of an intimate part of the Nepalese culture.

    The Beauty of Nepal
The country of Nepal is a unique, diverse, and beautiful country. Through our dialog project partners, I have learned much about this country. Nepal is a place filled with diversity, cultural traditions, pride, and many other wonderful qualities. My partner for this project has been Mr. Asheshwor and he has been extremely helpful throughout this entire process. During the past couple of weeks we have been asked to discover a few things: a symbol that our partner thinks best represents his/her country; a proverb; and a song, poem, or story that embodies his/her country. Mr. Ash, as he prefers to be called, has shared with me one of each of these topics. The symbol he gave me is the Nepali flag. The proverb is “Jaane lai srikhanda, najaane lai khurpa ko bid”, or “for those who know the meaning and use, a tool or knowledge can be very useful. But for others, the same tool or knowledge can be useless.” The final item is a song that is one Mr. Ash loves. It is called Hera Na Hera Kancha, sung by Aruna Lama.

The proverb that Mr. Ash gave me is “Jaane lai srikhanda, najaane lai khurpa ko bid”, or “for those who know the meaning and use, a tool or knowledge can be very useful. But for others, the same tool or knowledge can be useless.” It was wonderful that he included the proverb in the Nepalese language since it adds to the power of the proverb. This proverb shows the wisdom and knowledge the people of Nepal have and that they cherish it. It shows the value in education the Nepal people have. They know that to succeed in this life, education, knowledge, and wisdom are some of the most important things to have. They take one far in life.
The last item is the song, Hera Na Hera Kancha, sung by Aruna Lama. Aruna Lama was an old singer of Nepal. It is a beautiful love song. Looking online, I have found that many people love this song. It is an old classic, one could say, and they love Aruna Lama’s voice. For the people who have a connection with this song, it inspires feeling and memories of love and happiness. From this song, one can gather that the Nepalese people are a people of love. Love is a big part of their culture. The melody also evokes happy feelings and emotions of love. It seems to life the soul and the song makes one want to smile.
